Welcome to the Board: Josh Calhoon
Avoca Main Street, Inc. is excited to welcome Josh Calhoon as one of our newest board members!
Josh serves as the Avoca Branch Manager at Midstates Bank and has been a familiar, friendly face around Avoca Main Street for several years. What began as a way to get more involved and meet people in the community quickly turned into a passion for supporting downtown Avoca.
“I’ve had a blast volunteering with Avoca Main Street over the last three to four years,” Josh shared. “So taking on a more involved role was a no-brainer.”
Josh’s connection to Avoca began through his family. His wife, Laura Calhoon, accepted a teaching position with AHSTW Community School District right out of college in 2013. Over time, Avoca grew from a workplace community into a place they wanted to call home. Josh joined Midstates Bank in October 2020, and the Calhoons officially moved to Avoca in September 2021.
When asked what resonates most with him about Avoca Main Street’s mission, Josh pointed to the heart of our town—the Main Street district itself.
“One of the great things about Avoca is the Main Street district,” he said. “Getting to help out in some way, whether it’s volunteering or advocacy, is what resonates with me the most.”
