Main Street is a Nationwide, grassroots movement that blends preservation, activation, and coordination to harness the power of character-based economic growth.
The Main Street way is to inspire and engage the property owners, business owners, leaders, friends and neighbors to create a shared value in the character of the community.
Avoca Main Street is dedicated to enhancing the vitality of downtown Avoca through historic preservation, economic development, and community engagement. Downtown Avoca is home to 30 downtown residents and over 300 day-time workers; Our program has tracked $420,000 in annual private re-investment into the district and contributed $37,500 in annual volunteer value.
Since the program's founding in 2014, downtown Avoca has seen $4.2 Million invested in downtown projects and acquisitions, logged over 13,500 volunteer hours, and netted 14 new downtown businesses.
