American Flag Retirement Ceremony

The Avoca American Legion Post 227 will conduct a formal American Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Avoca City Hall. The public is invited to attend this respectful and meaningful event, held in honor of Flag Day. The ceremony will follow the United States Flag Code, which outlines the proper way to retire worn or damaged American flags. Members of Post 227 will oversee the dignified disposal of flags through a ceremonial burning, honoring the symbol of our nation with reverence and respect.
